The Evening Concert

Wednesday night April 16 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on W-I-L-L 90.9 FMHD1 it’s the San Francisco Symphony. You’ll hear Brahms’ “Variations on a Theme by Haydn”, Anders Hillborg’s “2nd Piano Concerto” with soloist Emanuel Ax and Beethoven’s “2nd Symphony”. Music Director Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts.

Tuesday night April 15 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on W-I-L-L 90.9 FMHD1 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast” with a program focusing on the CSO Chorus. You’ll hear Bruckner’s “Psalm 150”, Bartok’s “Cantata profana” and Brahms’ “A German Requiem”.

Monday night April 14 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on W-I-L-L 90.9 FMHD1 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Korngold’s “Violin Concerto” with soloist Hilary Hahn, Wagenaar’s “Cyrano de Bergerac Overture”, and Beethoven’s “7th Symphony”. Music Director Jaap van Zweden conducts.

Sunday night April 13 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on W-I-L-L 90.9 FMHD1 you’ll hear a string quintet by Dvorak on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”, followed at 7:00 by “Guitar Music from Argentina” on “Fiesta” and at 8:00 by “Early Music Now”.

Friday night April 11 at 7:00 on W-I-L-L 90.9 FMHD1 it’s the second program in a new season of the “Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival”. You'll hear Rachmaninoff’s “Trio elegiac” and a flute trio by Lully. Broadcasting this program here permits us to collect new recordings for use on future Prairie Performances.

Wednesday night April 9 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on W-I-L-L 90.9 FMHD1 it’s the San Francisco Symphony. Pekka Kuusisto is the violin soloist in Jesper Nordin’s “Convergence. Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts. Also on the program John Adams’ Naïve and Sentimental Music.

Tuesday night April 8 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on W-I-L-L 90.9 FMHD1 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra”. Kirill Gerstein is the soloist in Schumann’s “Piano Concerto”. Karina Canellakis guest conducts.  Also on the program Augusta Read Thomas’ “Brio” and Richard Strauss’ “Ein Heldenleben”.

Monday night April 7 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on W-I-L-L 90.9 FMHD1 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. From the Philharmonic’s legendary audio archives you’ll hear Beethoven’s “1st Symphony” and Bruckner’s “7th Symphony”. Kurt Masur conducts.
