The Evening Concert

Sunday night October 20 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 you’ll hear Bartok’s “Divertimento for Strings” from Lincoln Center followed at 7:00 by “String Quartets from Mexico” on Fiesta and at 8:00 by Gateways Radio.

Friday night October 18 at 7:00 on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 it’s “Early Music Now with Sara Schneider”. You'll hear a Mass by Marc-Antoine Charpentier. Broadcasting this program on Friday’s at 7:00 PM gives us time to collect new local recordings for use on future “Prairie Performances”. 

Thursday night October 17 at 7:00 on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 you’ll hear another episode of “The Sound of 13”, a program that investigates the intersection between the 13th Amendment and classical music. At 8:00 it’s “The Middle”: a weekly, non-partisan call-in talk show on politics.  

Wednesday night October 18 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 it’s the third program in a new series from the European Broadcasting Union. Sheku Kanneh-Mason is the soloist in Weinberg’s “Cello Concerto” with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic led by Andrew Manze.

Tuesday night October 15 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL  90.9FM/HD1 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”.  Vadim Gluzman is the soloist in Shostakovich’s “1st Violin Concerto”. David Afkham guest conducts. Also on the program Debussy’s “La mer” and Ravel’s “La valse”.

Monday night October 14 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL  90.9FM/HD1 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. From the archives you’ll hear Alan Gilbert conduct the Philharmonic in Schoenberg’s “Pelleas and Melisande”, Charles Ives’ “2nd Symphony” and Webern’s “In the Summer Wind”.

Tuesday night October 8 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL, 90.9FM/HD1 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”.  You’ll hear Shostakovich’s “1st Suite for Variety Orchestra” and selections from Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet”. Also on the program John Adams’ “The Chairman Dances”.
