The Evening Concert

Wednesday night May 28 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s the San Francisco Symphony. You’ll hear Brahms’ “Violin Concerto” with soloist Julia Fischer. Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts. Also on the program a concert version of Stravinsky’s “Pulcinella”.

Tuesday night May 27 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra”. You’ll hear Mahler’s “2nd Symphony” with former Principal Conductor Bernard Haitink at the podium from a 2008 recording released on the CSO Resound label.

Monday night May 26 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear the Philharmonic perform Mahler’s “9th Symphony” from a live concert recording from 2016 with Bernard Haitink as guest conductor.

Sunday night May 25 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” you’ll hear Dvorak’s Op. 48 String Sextet” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 7:00 you’ll hear music by Leo Brouwer on “Fiesta”.

Friday night May 23 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s the “Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival”. You'll hear Schubert’s D929 “Piano Trio” and Schumann’s Op. 18 “Arabesque” for solo piano.

Wednesday night May 21 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s the San Francisco Symphony. You’ll hear Music Director Laureate Michael Tilson Thomas lead the Symphony in Mahler’s “5th Symphony in C-sharp Minor”.

Tueday night May 20 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear First Principal Guest Conductor Carlo Maria Giulini lead the group in Prokofiev’s “1st Symphony”, the “Classical” Symphony, and Mahler’s “9th Symphony”.

Monday night May 19 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Haydn’s “95th Symphony” and Sibelius’ “1st Symphony”. Also on the program Martinu’s “4th Piano Concerto” with soloist Garrick Ohlsson.
