The Evening Concert

Tuesday night November 12 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL  90.9FM/HD1 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Music Director Emeritus for Life Riccardo Muti conducts the CSO in Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture, and the “5th” and “8th” symphonies.

Monday night November 11 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL  90.9FM/HD1 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Leila Josefowicz is the soloist in Esa-Pekka Salonen’s “Violin Concerto” with Salonen conducting the Philharmonic.  Also on the program Ravel’s “Mother Goose Suite” and Sibelius’ “5th Symphony”.

Sunday night November 10 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 you’ll hear Schubert’s “Fantasie in F Minor for Piano, Four-Hands” from Lincoln Center followed at 7:00 by music Padre Antonio Soler on Fiesta and at 8:00 by Gateways Radio.

Friday night November 8 at 7:00 on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 it’s “Early Music Now with Sara Schneider”. You'll hear music by Ockeghem, Busnois and Tinctoris. Broadcasting this program on Friday’s at 7:00 PM gives us time to collect new local recordings for use on future “Prairie Performances”. 

Thursday night November 7 at 7:00 on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 you’ll hear another episode of “The Sound of 13”, a program that investigates the intersection between the 13th Amendment and classical music. At 8:00 it’s “The Middle”: a weekly, non-partisan call-in talk show on politics.  

Wednesday night November 6 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 you’ll hear Liya Petrova as the soloist in Nielsen’s “Violin Concerto” with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales led by Martyn Brabbins. Also on the program Rachmaninoff’s “2nd Symphony”.

Tuesday night November 5 at 7:00 on WILL  90.9FM/HD1 our regularly scheduled “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast” is pre-empted so that we can bring you live coverage of the 2024 Election from National Public Radio and Illinois Public Media.

Monday night November 4 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL  90.9FM/HD1 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Mussorgsky’s “Night on Bald Mountain”, Berlioz’s “Dream of a Witches’ Sabbath” and Bach’s famous “Toccata and Fugue in D Minor”.

Sunday night November 3 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 you’ll hear Bach’s “3rd Brandenburg Concerto” from Lincoln Center followed at 7:00 by music inspired by the “Day of the Dead” on Fiesta and at 8:00 by Gateways Radio.
