Wednesday night June 5 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the San Francisco Symphony. You’ll hear Music Director Laureate Michael Tilson Thomas lead the group in a performance of Mahler’s “6th Symphony” from a recording made in 2023 in Davies Symphony Hall.
Tuesday night June 4 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Mozart’s “Gran Partita” Serenade and his “Violin Concerto No.4” featuring CSO Concertmaster Robert Chen. Also on the program Cimarosa’s overture to “The Secret Marriage”.
Monday night June 3 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Aaron Copland conducts an abridged version of his opera “The Tender Land” . Also on the program Ellington’s “A Tone Parallel to Harlem” and Russo’s “ 2nd Symphony”.
Sunday night June 2 the Evening Concert starts at 5:00 o’clock with music of Dvorak on the “Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival”, followed at 6:00 by the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”, at 7:00 by Fiesta, and at 8:00 by Gateways Radio.
Thursday night May 30 at 7:00 on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear another episode of “The Sound of 13”, a program that investigates the intersection between the 13th Amendment and classical music. At 8:00 it’s “The Middle”: a weekly, non-partisan call-in talk show on politics.
Wednesday night May 29 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the San Francisco Symphony. You’ll hear spellbinding pianist Yuja Wang play Rachmaninoff’s “Third
Piano Concerto”. Music Director Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts. Also on the program Gabriella Smith’s “Tumblebird Contrails” and Salonen’s tone poem “Nyx”.
Tuesday night May 28 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Anton Bruckner's “8th Symphony” which was among the few triumphs of the misunderstood composer's lifetime. Christian Thielemann conducts this fervent and majestic score.
Monday night May 27 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Brahms’ “Violin Concerto” featuring soloist Frank Peter Zimmermann from a concert from Alan Gilbert's first season as Music Director of the Philharmonic. Also on the program Schoenberg’s “Pelleas and Melisande”.
