Christian Macelaru Guest Conducts the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Tonight at 7:00 on the "The Evening Concert" on WILL-FM it’s our weekly broadcast of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Christian Macelaru [Mah-che-LAR-rue] guest conducts the group in Debussy’s “Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun” and Bartok’s “Divertimento for Strings”. Also on the program: Bartok’s 2nd Piano Concerto with soloist Yefim Bronfman.

The Dranoff International 2 Piano Competition: DuoImpuls Plays Poulenc

Tonight at 7:00 on the "The Evening Concert" on WILL-FM it’s the first in a new series, the Dranoff International 2 Piano Competition.  Eight semi-finalist two-piano teams competed for the $25,000 prize. This week Duo ImPuls plays Poulenc’s “Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra”. Also on the program, music by Mozart, Debussy, and others.

The American Pianists Association “Classical Fellowship Awards”: Winner: Sean Chen

Tonight at 7:00 on the "The Evening Concert" on WILL-FM it’s the last of the ‘Classical Fellowship Awards’ from the American Pianists Association. The program features the winner of the competition, Sean Chen, in recital, playing Beethoven’s 13th Piano Sonata, Bach’s French Suite #5, Scriabin’s 5th Piano Sonata and other works.
