The Evening Concert

Monday night April 10 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Wagenaar’s “Cyrano de Bergerac Overture” and Beethoven’s “7th Symphony”. Also on the program Korngold’s “Violin Concerto” with soloist Hilary Hahn.

Sunday night April 9 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear a wind quintet arrangement of Ravel’s “Le Tombeau de Couperin” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear Latin American music for Easter on “Fiesta”.

Thursday night April 6 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s a new series from the Deutsche Welle Festival Concerts. You’ll hear works by Johann Sebastian Bach and his son Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach recorded last June in St. Thomas Church, Leipzig, a place where JS Bach worked in his lifetime.

Wednesday night April 5 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the first program in a new series from the San Francisco Symphony led by their new Music Director Esa-Pekka Salonen.  You’ll hear Beethoven’s “7th Symphony” and Hannah Kendall’s “Tuxedo”.

Tuesday night April 4 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear John Adams’ “The Chairman Dances” and Dvorak’s “8th Symphony”. Edo de Waart guest conducts. Also on the program Stravinsky’s “Violin Concerto” with soloist Leila Josefowicz.

Monday night April 3 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear vocal soloists Sherezade Panthaki, Reginald Mobley, Leif Solén, and Jonathon Adams and the Handel and Haydn Society Chorus in Handel’s “Messiah”. Masaaki Suzuki conducts.

Sunday night April 2 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Leonard Bernstein’s “Clarinet Sonata” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear cellist Carlo Prieto and pianist Edison Quintana on “Fiesta”.

Thursday night March 30 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra” led by guest conductor Osmo Vanska. You’ll hear Bernstein’s Overture to Candide and Berlioz’s “Symphonie fantastique”. Also on the program Joan Tower’s “A New Day” for cello and orchestra.

Wednesday night March 29 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Mozart’s “20th Piano Concerto” with soloist Leif Ove Andsnes and Rachmaninoff’s “2nd Symphony”. Petr Popelka conducts the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. The program differs from the one listed in Patterns Magazine.

Tuesday night March 28 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Beethoven’s “6th Symphony” the Pastoral” and Bottesini’s “2nd Double Bass Concerto” featuring Alexander Hanna as soloist. Also on the program Jessie Montgomery’s “Hymn for Every One”.
