The Evening Concert

Wednesday night April 26 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the fourth program in a new series from the San Francisco Symphony led by their new Music Director Esa-Pekka Salonen.  You’ll hear Beethoven’s “3rd Piano Concerto” and Richard Strauss’ “Symphony for Wind Instruments”.

Tuesday night April 25 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Bruckner’s “8th Symphony” with guest conductor Christian Theilemann. Also on the program Wagner’s “Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan and Isolde”.

Monday night April 24 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Shostakovich’s “5th Symphony” and Kodaly’s “Dances of Galanta”.  Also on the program Berg’s “Violin Concerto” with soloist Christian Ferras.

Sunday night April 23 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Rachmaninoff’s “2nd Suite for Two Pianos” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear nature interpreted in Latin American classical music on “Fiesta”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s a Deutsche Welle Festival Concert. You’ll hear the opening concert from last year’s Rheingau Music Festival with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra and MDR Leipzig Radio Chorus led by Alain Altinoglu in Mendelssohn’s symphony-cantata “Hymn of Praise”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the third program in a new series from the San Francisco Symphony led by their new Music Director Esa-Pekka Salonen.  You’ll hear Schubert’s “5th Symphony” and the US premiere of Bryce Dessner’s “Violin Concerto”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Coleridge-Taylor’s “Ballade” for Orchestra and Dvorak’s “6th Symphony”. Also on the program Barber’s “Knoxville: Summer of 1915” with soloist Joelle Harvey.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Wagner’s “Prelude to Act I of Lohengrin” and Tchaikovsky’s “4th Symphony”. Also on the program Julia Adolphe’s “Viola Concerto” with soloist Cynthia Phelps.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear the Emerson String Quartet play Dvorak’s “13th String Quartet” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear music by Brazilian composer Radames Gnatalli on “Fiesta”.

Thursday night April 13 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s a new series from the Deutsche Welle Festival Concerts. You’ll hear the opening concert from last year’s Beethoven Festival with the Budapest Festival Orchestra led by Ivan Fischer in Beethoven’s “3rd Symphony” and works by Bartok, and Ligeti.
