Tuesday night May 9 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Anna Rakitina makes her CSO conducting debut. You’ll hear Tchaikovsky’s “Capriccio Italien” and selections from “The Nutcracker” as well as the “Roccoco Variations” with cello soloist Alicia Weilerstein.
Monday night May 8 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear a concert from October 2022 with music by Marcos Balter, Tania Leon, John Adams, and Respighi, from the newly refurbished David Geffen Hall.
Sunday night May 7 starting at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Schubert’s “Quintet in C” from Santa Fe, followed at 7:00 by Barber’s “Cello Sonata” from Lincoln Center and at 8:00 by music of Mexican Composer Maria Granillo on “Fiesta”.
Friday night May 5 at 6:00 on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the first episode in a new series from the WFMT Radio Network called Gateways Radio. Garrett McQueen is your host. Tonight you’ll hear William Grant Still’s “Afro-American” Symphony and Cockerham’s “Fantasia on ‘Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing”.
Thursday night May 4 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s a Deutsche Welle Festival Concert. You’ll hear Bach’s “St. Matthew Passion” from last year’s Leipzig Bach Festival performed and recorded in the very church that Bach worked in, St. Thomas Church.
Wednesday night May 2 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the San Francisco Symphony. Music Director Laureate Michael Tilson Thomas conducts the group in Mozart’s K. 509 German Dances and Schumann’s “1st Symphony”, the “Spring”. Also on the program Tilson Thomas’ “Notturno”.
Tuesday night May 2 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. On the program you’ll hear Jascha Heifetz play the Sibelius “Violin Concerto”, Byron Janis play Strauss’ “Burleske”, and Jacqueline Du Pre play the Dvorak “Cello Concerto”.
Monday night May 1 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear a concert from October 2022 with music by Debussy, Caroline Shaw and Florence Price from the newly refurbished David Geffen Hall.
Sunday night April 30 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear chamber music by Debussy and Ravel on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear Latin American classical music by Argentine composers García Morillo and López Buchardo on “Fiesta”.
Thursday night April 27 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s a Deutsche Welle Festival Concert. You’ll hear Collegium Marianum play music of Telemann, Vivaldi, Handel, Leclair, and Marais from the “Early Music Festival in Herne”.
