Friday night May 26 at 6:00 on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the fourth episode in a new series from the WFMT Radio Network called Gateways Radio. Garrett McQueen is your host. Cellist Thapelo Masita plays Bach’s “1st Cello Suite”. You’ll also hear Jesse Montgomery’s “Banner” played by the Catalyst Quartet.
Thursday night May 25 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s a Deutsche Welle Festival Concert. You’ll hear Anna Prohaska sing arias from Mozart operas and movements from Berg’s “Lyric Suite”. Also on the program Mozart’s “Jupiter” Symphony.
Wednesday night May 24 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the San Francisco Symphony. You’ll hear Mahler’s “1st Symphony” and Liszt’s “1st Piano Concerto” with soloist Yuja Wang. Music Director Laureate Michael Tilson Thomas conducts.
Tuesday night May 23 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Glinka’s “Overture to Ruslan and Ludmilla” and Shostakovich’s “5th Symphony”. Also on the program, Lera Auerbach’s “Cello Concerto” with soloist Gautier Capucon.
Monday night May 22 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. From the Philharmonic’s archives you’ll hear Stravinsky’s “Petrushka” and John Adams’ Scheherazade 2.0 with violin soloist Leila Josefowicz. The program differs from the one listed in Patterns Magazine.
Sunday night May 21 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Dvorak’s “10th String Quartet” from Santa Fe, followed at 7:00 by Stravinsky’s “Five Easy Pieces” from Lincoln Center and at 8:00 by music of Lamraque Pons on “Fiesta”.
Friday night May 19 at 6:00 on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the third episode in a new series from the WFMT Radio Network called Gateways Radio. Garrett McQueen is your host. You’ll hear David Baker’s “Saxophone Concerto”, Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson’s “Worship”, and James Lee III’s “A Narrow Pathway Traveled”.
Thursday night May 18 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s a Deutsche Welle Festival Concert. You’ll hear violinist Augustin Hadelich as the soloist in Beethoven’s “Violin Concerto”. Also on the program the Schoenberg orchestration of Brahms “1st Piano Quartet”.
Wednesday night May 17 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the San Francisco Symphony. Guest conductor Daniel Steward leads the symphony and chorus in Beethoven’s “Ninth Symphony”. Also on the program Anna Clyne’s “Sound and Fury”.
Tuesday night May 16 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Ray Chen is the soloist in Lalo’s “Symphonie espagnole”. Hannu Lintu guest conducts. Also on the program, Nielsen’s “Helios Overture” and Brahms “4th Symphony”.
