This week it’s “Fiesta!, Latin American Music with Elbio Barilari”, then the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as Cristian Macelaru conducts Stravinsky miniatures, the Los Angeles Philharmonic featuring three living American composers, “The New York Philharmonic This Week” with Artist-in-Residence Emanuel Ax in Haydn’s 11th Piano Concerto; “Prairie Performances” and Sunday, “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center” AND our latest addition for summer-only “The Santa Fe Chamber Music Series”.

Tonight at 7:00 on "The Evening Concert" on WILL-FM 90.9 it's music of Bedrich Smetana and Australian composer Brett Dean (b. 1961) on "The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center". Following that, at 8:00, we've added another hour of chamber music for the summer months: "The 2013 Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival". The Festival opens with music of Alfredo Piatti, Anton Arensky, and Gustav Mahler.

[Thursday night] Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM … it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week” with an archive program featuring “The Maestro”, Leonard Bernstein, leading the orchestra in Mussorgsky’s “Khovanshchina: Prelude: Dawn on the Moskva River”, Shostakovich’s 7th Symphony and Borodin’s In the Steppes of Central Asia.

The Evening Concert for Tuesday, May 27, 2014: Muti, the CSO, and Izotov: the Martinu Oboe Concerto

Tonight at 7:00 on WILL-FM’s, “Evening Concert” CSO Principal Oboist Eugene Izotov is the soloist in Bohuslav Martinu’s “Oboe Concerto” with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Maestro Riccardo Muti conducts. Also on the program Wagner’s “Flying Dutchman” Overture, Scriabin’s “The Divine Poem” and Haydn’s 34th Symphony.

“Salzburg Festival 2013” on “The Evening Concert”: Mahler’s 4th Symphony

Tonight at 7:00 on “The Evening Concert” on WILL-FM: it’s “Salzburg Festival 2013”. Cornelius Mester conducts the ORF Austrian Radio Symphony Orchestra of Vienna in Mahler’s 4th Symphony with soprano Dorothea Roschmann as soloist in the final movement. Also on the program, music of Smetana, Britten and Harrison Birtwhistle’s “Violin Concerto” with Christian Tetzlaff as soloist.

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on WILL-FM, it’s “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center” with music by “Bach and Schubert”.  Cellist Colin Carr plays Bach’s “5th Suite for Unaccompanied Cello” and the Vermeer Quartet plays Schubert’s String Quartet No. 10 in E-flat Major. That’s “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center” tonight and each Sunday night at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on WILL. . .FM 90.9.

Jean-Yves Thibaudet Plays Beethoven’s “Emperor” Piano Concerto with the Los Angeles Philharmonic

Tonight at 7:00 on "The Evening Concert" on WILL-FM it’s the Los Angeles Philharmonic led by Music Director Gustavo Dudamel. Jean-Yves Thibaudet is the soloist in BEETHOVEN’s Piano Concerto No. 5, the “Emperor”. Also on the program, the LA Master Chorale is featured in the choral sections of RAVEL’s complete ballet score to Daphnis and Chloé.
