Wednesday night October 8 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” you’ll hear the first program in a new season from the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Zubin Mehta leads the group in Brahms’ “2nd Symphony”.  Also on the program Brahms’ “Violin Concerto” with soloist Leonidas Kavakos.

Tuesday night October 7 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Guest conductor Jaap van Zweden leads the CSO in Mahler’s “6th Symphony” from the 2025 Mahler Fest in Amsterdam.

The New York Philharmonic This Week

Monday night October 6 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Music and Artistic Director Designate Gustavo Dudamel leads the Philharmonic in Mahler’s “7th Symphony” recorded this past May.

Sunday night October 5 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” you’ll hear an all-Mozart program on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 7:00 you’ll hear “Romantic Music from Brazil and Mexico” on “Fiesta”.

New to Illinois Classical: Heifetz On Air

Friday night October 3 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” you’ll hear a program new to our schedule coming to us from the Heifetz International Music Institute in Staunton (STAN-tun), VA called “Heifetz On Air”. Tonight’s program features music by Bohemian composers.

WFMT Orchestra Series: Orchestras from the European Broadcasting Union

Wednesday night October 1 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” you’ll hear Edward Gardner conduct the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra in Berlioz’s “Symphonie fantastique”. Also on the program Bartok’s “2nd Violin Concerto” with soloist Christian Tetzlaff.
