Monday night September 23 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL, 90.9FM/HD1 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Cynthia Phelps is the viola soloist in Julia Adolphe’s “Unearth, Release”. Also on the program Wagner’s “Prelude to Act I of Lohengrin” and Tchaikovsky’s “4th Symphony”.
Saturday night September 22 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL, 90.9FM/HD1 you’ll hear Dvorak’s “1st Piano Quartet” from Lincoln Center followed at 7:00 by music of Leopoldo Miguez on Fiesta and at 8:00 by Gateways Radio.
Thursday night September 19 at 7:00 on WILL, 90.9FM/HD1 you’ll hear another episode of “The Sound of 13”, a program that investigates the intersection between the 13th Amendment and classical music. At 8:00 it’s “The Middle”: a weekly, non-partisan call-in talk show on politics.
Wednesday night September 18 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL, 90.9FM/HD1 it’s the Los Angeles Philharmonic. You’ll hear Mozart’s “25th Piano Concerto” featuring soloist Inon Barnatan. Karina Canellakis guest conducts. Also on the program Bartok’s “Concerto for Orchestra”.
Tuesday night September 17 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL, 90.9FM/HD1 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear two works by Shostakovich, the “10th Symphony” and the “1st Cello Concerto” featuring soloist Sol Gabetta. Klaus Mäkelä guest conducts.
Monday night September 16 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL, 90.9FM/HD1 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Former Music Director Alan Gilbert leads the orchestra, chorus, and soloists in Beethoven's “9th Symphony”. The program opens with the U.S. premiere of “Frieze” by Mark-Anthony Turnage.
