The Evening Concert

Friday night January 31 at 7:00 on WILL 90.9 FMHD1 it’s “Early Music Now with Sara Schneider”. You'll hear a program titled “Praetorius and Sartorius”. Broadcasting this program on Friday nights at 7:00 gives us time to collect new local recordings for use on future “Prairie Performances”. 

Wednesday night January 29 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9 FMHD1 it’s the fourth program in a new series from the Cleveland Orchestra. You’ll hear Dvorak’s “New World Symphony” and Julius Eastman’s “2nd Symphony”. Also on the program Wynton Marsalis’ “Trumpet Concerto”.

Tuesday night January 28 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9 FMHD1 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Brahms’ “4th Symphony” and Carl Nielsen’s “Helios Overture”.  Also on the program Lalo’s “Symphonie espagnole” featuring violinist Ray Chen.

Monday night January 27 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9 FMHD1 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week” with an all-Sibelius program. You’ll hear “Finlandia”, the “2nd Symphony” and “Pohola’s Daughter”.  Also on the program the “Violin Concerto” featuring Zino Francescatti.  

Sunday night January 26 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9 FMHD1 you’ll hear Mozart’s “K. 285a Flute Quartet” and Haydn’s “String Quartet No. 78” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 7:00 o’clock you’ll hear “Great Symphonic Music from Mexico” on “Fiesta”.

Thursday night January 23 at 7:00 on WILL 90.9 FMHD1 you’ll hear "Classical Music" from the "Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival": Marc Neikrug’s “Oboe Quartet” and Bach’s “E Major Violin Concerto”.

Wednesday night January 22 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9 FMHD1 it’s the third program in a new series from the Cleveland Orchestra. You’ll hear Joplin’s “Treemonisha Overture”, and William Grant Still’s “Darker America”. Also on the program Bernard Herrmann’s Suite from Vertigo”.

Tuesday night January 21 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9 FMHD1 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Wagner’s “Prelude to Act I of Lohengrin” and Lowell Liebermann’s “2nd Flute Concerto”.  Also on the program Mahler’s “4th Symphony”.

Monday night January 20 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9 FMHD1 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear William Russo’s “2nd Symphony”, Duke Ellington’s “A Tone Parallel to Harlem” featuring trumpeter Wynton Marsalis and an abridged version of Copland’s “The Tender Land”.
