The Evening Concert

Sunday night October 5 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” you’ll hear an all-Mozart program on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 7:00 you’ll hear “Romantic Music from Brazil and Mexico” on “Fiesta”.

Friday night October 3 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” you’ll hear a program new to our schedule coming to us from the Heifetz International Music Institute in Staunton (STAN-tun), VA called “Heifetz On Air”. Tonight’s program features music by Bohemian composers.

Wednesday night October 1 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” you’ll hear Edward Gardner conduct the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra in Berlioz’s “Symphonie fantastique”. Also on the program Bartok’s “2nd Violin Concerto” with soloist Christian Tetzlaff.

Sunday night September 14 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” you’ll hear Arensky’s “Piano Trio No. 1” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 7:00 you’ll hear music by Baroque composers from Mexico, Spain, and Cuba on “Fiesta”.

Friday night September 12 at 7:00 on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s “Gateways Radio”. You'll hear Duke Ellington’s “Black and Tan Fantasy”, Margaret Bonds’ “Montgomery Variations”, and the Traditional “I Want Jesus to Walk With Me”.  Also on the program music by Florence Price and Jonathan McNair. Loki Karuna hosts.

Wednesday night September 10 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” you’ll hear James Gaffigan conduct the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Dvorak’s “American Suite”, Gershwin’s “An American in Paris”, and Bernstein’s “Serenade after Plato’s ‘Symposium’”. 

Tuesday night September 9 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. CSO Principal Trumpet Esteban Batallán makes his solo debut with the group in trumpet concertos by Telemann and Michael Haydn. Also on the program Schubert’s “4th Symphony”.

Monday night September 8 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Guest conductor Nathalie Stutzmann leads the Philharmonic in Lorin Maazel’s arrangement of music from Wagner’s Ring Cycle called “The Ring Without Words”. 

Sunday night September 7 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” you’ll hear Myasakovsky’s “13th String Quartet” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 7:00 you’ll hear a program about Mexican Composer Gabriela Ortiz on “Fiesta”.

Friday night September 5 at 7:00 on “W-I-L-L Classical” we pre-empt “Gateways Radio” so that we can bring you a special live broadcast of "The Atomic Age Cocktail Party". Tune in and make a pledge in support of this and other programs on WILL Classical at willgive.org.
