The Evening Concert

Wednesday night September 3 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” you’ll hear Tugan Sokhiev conduct Staatskapelle Dresden in Anton Bruckner’s “7th Symphony”. Also on the program Shostakovich’s “1st Cello Concerto” featuring soloist Sol Gabetta.

Tuesday night September 2 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear works conducted by Fritz Reiner: Haydn’s “88th Symphony”, Rolf Liebermann’s Concerto for Jazz Band and Orchestra”, and Mahler’s “4th Symphony”.

Monday night September 1 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. The program opens with Strauss’ “Also Sprach Zarathustra” followed by Haydn’s “Wind-band Mass” and closing with Strauss’ “Death and Transfiguration”.

Sunday night August 31 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” you’ll hear Lutoslawski’s “Variations on a Theme of Paganini” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 7:00 you’ll hear music by Claudio Santoro on “Fiesta”.

Friday night August 29 at 7:00 on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s “Gateways Radio”. You'll hear Carlos Simon’s “Amen”, Samuel Adler’s “In Memoriam: Marian Anderson”, David Baker’s “Blues (Deliver My Soul) and William Grant Still’s “3rd Symphony”. Loki Karuna hosts.

Wednesday night August 27 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” you’ll hear Elim Chan conduct the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra in Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake Suite”. Also on the program Rachmaninoff’s “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini” featuring soloist Nelson Goerner.

Tuesday night August 26 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear John Adams’ “The Chairman Dances” and Shostakovich’s “1st Suite for Variety Orchestra. Also on the program music by Ellington by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.

Monday night August 25 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear three works by Shostakovich: the 6th and 14th symphonies conducted by Leonard Bernstein and the “2nd Piano Concerto”.

Sunday night August 24 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” you’ll hear Ravel’s “Gaspard de la nuit” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 7:00 you’ll hear a program on called “Sonic Alchemies from Latin America” on “Fiesta”.
