The Evening Concert

Tuesday night August 26 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear John Adams’ “The Chairman Dances” and Shostakovich’s “1st Suite for Variety Orchestra. Also on the program music by Ellington by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.

Monday night August 25 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear three works by Shostakovich: the 6th and 14th symphonies conducted by Leonard Bernstein and the “2nd Piano Concerto”.

Sunday night August 24 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” you’ll hear Ravel’s “Gaspard de la nuit” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 7:00 you’ll hear a program on called “Sonic Alchemies from Latin America” on “Fiesta”.

Friday night August 22 at 7:00 on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s “Gateways Radio”. You'll hear Chick Corea’s “Spain”, David Wilborn’s “Escapades”, Fred Emory Smith’s “Suite No. 1”, Dizzy Gillespie’s “Manteca” and Hummel’s “Trumpet Concerto”. Loki Karuna hosts.

Wednesday night August 20 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” you’ll hear Pablo Heras-Casado conduct the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin in Bruckner’s “5th Symphony”. Also on the program Dame Ethel Smyth’s “Concerto for Violin and Horn” featuring soloists Renaud Capuçon and Stefan Dohr.

Tuesday night August 19 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Massenet’s “Meditation from Thais” and Vaughan Williams’ “Tuba Concerto”. Also on the program Richard Strauss’ “Don Quixote”.

Monday night August 18 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Augusta Read Thomas’ “Gathering Paradise”, Ellen Taafe Zwilich’s “Double Quartet” and Leonard Bernstein’s “Candide Overture”. Also on the program Gabriel Faure’s “Requiem”.

Sunday night August 17 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “W-I-L-L Classical” you’ll hear Florence Price’s “Piano Quintet” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 7:00 you’ll hear a program on Joaquin Nin and his children Anaïs Nin and Joaquin Nin-Culmell on “Fiesta”.

Friday night August 15 at 7:00 on “W-I-L-L Classical” it’s “Gateways Radio”. You'll hear Shane Evans’ “Beyond the Veil”, Herbert Smith’s “Expansions of the Heart”, Errollyn Wallen’s Mighty River” and Damien Geter’ “Bop”. Loki Karuna hosts.
