Classics of the Phonograph:

By John Frayne

After a decade in which Igor Stravinsky's ballet, "The Rite of Spring" had stunned the musical world, in the 1920s Stravinsky changed direction. In his "neoclassical" period, he found inspiration in the music of earlier centuries. In Classics of the Phonograph, Saturday at 11, we will hear Stravinsky's early recordings of such works as "Apollo" and "Symphony of Psalms," on Illinois Classical.
