Campus Workers Vote on New Contract

Friday is the 2nd day of voting on a new contract for Building and Food Service workers at the University of Illinois. Members of SEIU Local 73 will be voting until 6 PM

Union spokesman Adam Rosen says the results will be announced shortly afterwards.

Negotiators for the university and union reached the agreement on a four-year contract last week. That followed a three-day strike that Local 73 held to show dissatisfaction with negotiations.

The previous contract for nearly 800 building and food service workers at the Urbana campus expired last July.  Negotiations have been going on for several months.
