Hot Weather Prompts Early School Closings

High humidity and temperatures in the 90s forecast for Friday have prompted some area schools to dismiss classes early.

Champaign Central High School will dismiss at 1:05 PM on Friday. Buses will be available directly following dismissal for regular afternoon routes. Lunch will be provided. All afternoon athletic activities will be held as scheduled.

Danville High School will dismiss on Friday at 2 PM. School officials stress that the high school is the only school in District 118 that is dismissing early --- all other Danville public schools will follow their regular schedule.

Decatur Public Schools will dismiss one hour early on Friday. At the Pershing Early Learning Center, morning classes will stay on their regular schedule, but afternoon classes are cancelled.

The Jamaica school district will dismiss students at 2:06 PM on Friday, just as it did on Wednesday and Thursday.
