Illini Men Drop Big Ten Opener in Rosemont

The Illinois Men’s basketball team played their Big Ten opener last night in Rosemont, losing 72-68 in overtime to Northwestern.

Illini coach Brad Underwood was happy with his team's defense ... but he was disappointed with their ball-handling.

The Illini had 19 turnovers in the game, and Underwood said that's on him.

Leading the way for the Illini was Leron Black with 15 points and seven rebounds. Behind him Te'jon Lucas and Mark Alstork and 14 points apience. Lucas had a chance to tie the game in overtime but missed two key free throws and a game tying shot that got blocked.

The Illini have a quick turnaround as they head back to Champaign for another Big Ten matchup against Maryland on Sunday.
