Indiana University Honors Ukraine Crash Victim
A posthumous doctoral degree has been given to the family of an Indiana University student among those killed when a jetliner was shot down over Ukraine.
The parents, sister and brother of Karlijn Keijzer traveled from the Netherlands to Bloomington this week to visit places where she spent time during her years as a graduate student in chemistry.
The 25-year-old Keijzer also had been a member of IU's women's rowing team and a rowing shell named for her was christened during Wednesday evening's campus memorial program.
Jacqueline Keijzer tells The Herald-Times she wasn't happy her daughter was so far away, but saw that she was happy at IU.
Keijzer was among 298 people killed when the Malaysian jetliner crashed in July.
