Newbern Death Investigated As Homicide

Authorities in Danville are investigating the death of William Newbern as a homicide.

The announcement comes after a preliminary autopsy showed the 42-year-old Newbern died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.

The body of the Danville resident --- formerly of Decatur, was found outside the 500 block of North Griffin on the east side of Danville, and pronounced dead at the scene early Tuesday morning.
