Rockford Man ‘Person Of Interest’ In Monticello Woman’s Death At Rest Stop

July 03, 2014

Illinois State Police say they’re looking for a man who they believe killed a Monticello woman at a highway rest stop on Interstate 39.

Police said in a news release that 44-year-old Tonya Bargman was found at the Willow Creek rest stop on I-39 in northern Illinois about 8:30 Tuesday night.

Surveillance video showed a man attacking her as she left a restroom at the rest stop.  The rest stop is just outside the small town of Paw Paw and about 40 miles south of Rockford.

Police believe the attacker may be driving Bargman's gray 2013 Nissan Altimaa with the license plates BARGMN2.

36-year old Terence Doddy of Rockford has been identified as a person of interest in this investigation.  He's also wanted by Rockford Police in connection with a murder that occurred June 30th in the city.

Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or the Illinois State Police Zone 2 office at (815) 632-4010.
