UPDATE: Sangamon Flood Warning Extended to Monday Morning

The Flood Warning for the Sangamon River at Monticello has been extended until Monday morning.

The river stage at Monticello remained at 13.2 feet on Sunday morning, the same level as on Saturday morning.

Flood stage for the Sangamon River at Monticello is 13.0 feet.

The National Weather Service forecasts that the river level will hover just above flood stage at Monticello for the remainder of Saturday, before slowly beginning to fall.

By Monday morning, the river is expected to be just below flood stage.

In the meantime, the Weather Service says the Monticello area has been seeing minor flooding in the area, and is predicting more minor flooding to occur.

It advises motorists who encounter a flooded roadway to turn around and find an alternate route.
