Suspect In Campustown Fatal Shooting Now In Custody

Champaign Police say Robbie M. Patton, 18, of Champaign turned himself in to authorities Thursday night, reporting to the Champaign County Jail at 10:15 p.m. He's charged with First Degree Murder in connection with the early Sunday morning shooting death of George Korchev of Mundelein near the University of Illinois campus. He also faces a count of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm.

Arrest warrants were issued for Patton on Tuesday, in connection with the incident in the 300 Block of E. Green Street that resulted in multiple gunshot victims, including Korchev, and others walking near him in the neighborhood.

Bond is set at $5-million.

While Patton is in custody, police say the investigation into the early Sunday morning shooting is ongoing.
