While fans of the Fighting Illini basketball teams had hoped for better results this spring, a collegiate team on the other side of town had a season for the record books.

The Parkland College Lady Cobras’ season ended Saturday in a 66-64 loss to Johnson County in the title game of the NJCAA Division II Tournament in Overland Park, Kansas.

Before that, they hadn’t lost since their first game of the season (87-69 to Mineral Area College) -  winning 35 straight in between.

Parkland is now tied for the 2nd longest streak in NJCAA D2 history - behind only Kirkwood with 39 straight wins.

Illinois Public Media’s Jeff Bossert talked with head coach Mike Lindemann and sophomore Nadine Vaughn, who both say they paid little attention to the win streak that began in early November.
