Emily Harris’ label, Mrs. Emily, celebrates bodies of every shape and size, creating flattering elastic skirts that are functional, adaptable, and provide a confidence boost. Her designs reflect her passion to make comfortable, flattering clothing that adapts to our changing bodies and is functional for busy lives. Harris drafts designs in her Champaign home studio and partners with family-owned workshops in India and Bangladesh.
We make a return trip to the Japan House on the University of Illinois campus in Urbana, a place that strives to make traditional Japanese arts and culture accessible to everyone. We're treated to a traditional tea ceremony performed by Professor Kimiko Gunji.
Prairie Fire Glass (no relation!) is a glassworking studio and gallery in Monticello, Illinois. It’s owned and operated by glass artist Jim Downey,and features beautiful and functional artworks like vases, bowls, jewelry, and ornaments. Every piece is one of a kind, handmade on site.
