This month on Prairie Fire, we drop in on one of the coolest summer camps for high schoolers: The U of I Black Chorus Camp. Then, Tinisha Spain sits down for a special Black History Month conversation with the remarkable Dr. Jeanne Morris, a civil rights activist and a pioneer in the field of early childhood education. And then we travel up north to Chicago to introduce you to a sculptor who uses industrial materials to make eye popping works of art.

Illinois Summer Youth Music (ISYM) Black Chorus Camp

No better way to mark #blackhistorymonth❤️🖤💚 than by showcasing one of the coolest #summercamps for high schoolers: the U of I Black Chorus Camp led by the estimable @olliewattsdavis. This experience gives kids intense exposure to many of the forms of music created by #blackamericans in a university setting. Kids dig deep to build confidence & performance skills as they prepare for a (fabulous!) grand finale concert.
