Haochen Zhang is the first prize winner of the 2009 13th Van Cliburn Internatinal Piano Competition described by Scott Cantrell of the Dalals Morning News as "...the musician I'd walk across town to hear."

Brahms' Opus 111 String Quintet was written in 1890. It is the second of those works in that form and uses the two viola arrangement like the First String Quintet; music from "The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center" and the “Spoleto Chamber Music Festival”.

The St. Petersburg [String] Quartet formed in Russia in 1985. That's more than 100 years after the compostion of the works they play tonight on the Evening Concert.
