Sunday night July 30 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Messiaen’s “Quartet for the End of Time” from Santa Fe, followed at 7:00 by Shostakovich’s “Op. 57 Piano Quintet” from Lincoln Center and at 8:00 by “an Ideal Latin American Classical Music Concert” on “Fiesta”.

Monday night June 19 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. From the Philharmonic’s archives you’ll hear Messiaen’s “Turangalîla-Symphonie” with pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet and ondes martenot soloist Cynthia Millar.  Music Director Jaap van Zweden conducts.

Wednesday night April 12 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the second program in a new series from the San Francisco Symphony led by their new Music Director Esa-Pekka Salonen.  You’ll hear Debussy’s “Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun” and “La Mer”.

In WWII Messiaen spent time as a POW in a concentration camp, which is where he composed his famous "Quartet".
