Governor Bruce Rauner’s office confirms a report that one of the three vacancies on the University of Illinois Board of Trustees has been filled. The governor has named U of I alumnus and former business associate Donald Edwards to fill a six-year term.

The U of I's chief financial officer told Trustees Thursday that the budget standoff in Springfield will mean the board can't vote on a budget at its November meeting either, saying a 60 day window is needed.

Gov. Rauner is nominating Alumni Assiciation Board members Jill Smart and Ramon Cepeda to serve as University of Illinois Trustees.
