Feng Sheng Hu, the news dean of the University of Illinois' liberal arts college, says the future of federal funding for research into climate change is uncertain under the new Trump administration.

The largest college on the University of Illinois Urbana campus will have a new dean, as of January First.

The university announced Thursday that associate dean Feng Sheng Hu had been named the new permanent dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, pending approval by trustees.

Citing the ongoing state budget impasse, the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences asked its more than 60 units across the U of I Urbana campus Friday to reduce spending by about 5%.
