“Pressure” is a war film about the 72-hours before D-Day. The movie stars Andrew Scott who plays James Stagg, the chief meteorological officer. Stagg is tasked with forecasting the weather for the Allied Invasion.

Whether or not there are clear skies and calm seas determines if the allied forces proceed with the most dangerous seaborne invasion in history or risk losing the war altogether.

Professor in the Department of Climate, Meteorology, and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Illinois, Steve Nesbitt and Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Climate, Meteorology, and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Illinois Eddie Wolff discuss the science and history behind the film.
