  • There is a new Speaker of the Illinois House. Democrat Chris Welch took over the job this Wednesday afternoon.

  • The Illinois General Assembly approved an expansive criminal justice package on the last day of the lame duck session. Under the proposal, the state will phase out cash bail as a requirement for someone to leave jail before their trial date.

  • Congressman Rodney Davis joined most other Republicans in voting against the impeachment of President Trump yesterday. 

  • Public health officials reported Champaign County’s 93rd death related to COVID-19 Wednesday

  • As of Wednesday, more than 77-hundred Champaign County residents ---or 4.5 percent of those eligible -- had received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
