Capitol News Illinois File Photo
The Trump administration is requesting voting data from numerous states across the country including Illinois. This means troves of voter data from Illinois’ voter registration database — including some sensitive information from state election officials.
The Trump administration has also asked about states’ efforts to scrub the rolls of ineligible voters. Matt Dietrich, Public Information Officer at Illinois State Board of Elections declined an interview with the 21st show, and said in an email the only comment he can make is that: “Our legal division is reviewing the request.”
The head of an election research center and a politcal science professor weigh in.
