Best of: Gun control advocates react to Illinois’ assault weapons ban
When the Illinois' new assault weapons ban, known as the Protect Illinois Communities Act, or House Bill 5855 became law earlier this month, it made Illinois the ninth state in the country to ban assault weapons. The bill was in direct response to the shooting that took place in Highland Park during a parade on Fourth of July. The shooting suspect used an AR-15 style semi-automatic rifle. The gunman killed seven people and wounded 48 more.
For the first part of the show, we were joined by three supporters of the ban to discuss why they back the law.
