Best of: What’s the controversy around a bill that permits multi-stall all-gender restrooms?
Previously under Illinois law, all single-occupancy restrooms are required to be gender-neutral, while bathrooms with multiple stalls were required to have specific gender designations. A piece of legislation that’s passed the Illinois Legislature that would allow businesses to create multi-stall gender-neutral restrooms is now awaiting a signature from Governor J.B. Pritzker.
The 21st Show was joined by lawmakers who supported and opposed the bill, as well as the CEO of an organization advocating against sexual assault and two LGBTQ advocates.
