Pope Francis, who led the Catholic Church for more than a decade, died yesterday at age 88. His funeral will take place on Saturday, April 26. He was the first Pope from the Americas, and the first born outside Europe in more than a millennium.

He leaves a complex, but remarkable legacy -- having moved in a more progressive direction on many of the world's issues — including being much more sympathetic towards the LGBTQ+ community. Pope Francis also deeply advocated for the poor and marginalized. A bishop from Peoria had the opportunity to meet the pope in 2022 and he joins the program today.
