Essential Workers Are Risking Their Health To Keep Their Jobs

Many businesses across the state have been forced to adapt due to the statewide stay-at-home order; however, essential workers must still go to work and are at risk of getting sick.

Because of the vague definition of essential worker, many major corporations are continuing in-person operations. These same corporpations offer little to no healthcare services to their employees.

Workers are being forced to decide if their paychecks are worth the risk of getting sick.

Guests: Alexia Elejalde-Ruiz, reporter from the Chicago Tribune. Stephanie Fortado, lecturer at the University of Illinois School of Labor and Employment Relations.

Prepared for web by WILL intern Tatiania Perry.
