Criminal Justice Reform or Abolition?

When it comes to criminal justice, there have been many attempts at “reform” in recent years. Now some are saying the system is beyond repair, and instead should be abolished. Can those factions see eye-to-eye? And how will that debate be affected by rising rates of violent crime?

To discuss these questions and more, The 21st was joined by the former warden of Cook County Jail.

Guests:

Dr. Nneka Jones-Tapia, Clinical Psychologist, Managing Director of Justice Initiatives, Chicago Beyond, Former Warden of Cook County Jail

Garien Gatewood, Executive Director, Illinois Justice Project
