GOP congressional hopeful Jim Marter on ‘misuse’ of AI, immigration, and election integrity

Democratic Representative Lauren Underwood flipped Illinois' 14th district in the 2018 election and narrowly held on to the seat in 2020 against businessman Jim Oberweis. Since the congressional maps were redrawn, she’s won her last couple races more comfortably with around 55% of the vote.
Republican Jim Marter faced Underwood in 2024 and he’s trying again to flip the seat back to red. He grew up in Bartonville, in Peoria County and is urrently based out of Oswego, where he works in software consulting. Marter has been involved in politics for a bit more than a decade now previously serving as Kendall County Republican Chairman.
This is actually his sixth time running for Congress. He’s run in the 14th District every election since 2020 as well as for U.S. Senate in 2016. Marter discusses his latest congressional bid.
