How will the new chairman of the University of Illinois Board of Trustees navigate the changes of the Trump administration?

Jesse Ruiz was recently elected chairman of the University of Illinois System Board of Trustees. Ruiz is an alum of the school, and also has a law degree from the University of Chicago. While there, he took classes from now-Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan and former President Barack Obama. Ruiz has also chaired the Illinois State Board of Education and was an interim CEO for Chicago Public Schools. Most recently he was deputy governor for education during Governor J-B Pritzker’s first term.
