For the second year in a row, there was a naturalization ceremony during the Illinois State Fair. The candidates for citizenship were welcomed by dignitaries including Gov. JB Pritzker, Senator Dick Durbin, Senator Tammy Duckworth, and Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski. This comes at a time when the Trump administration is doing everything it can to discourage people from coming to America.
Brian Mackey spoke to some of the 400 new Americans at the ceremony, who shared a little bit about their background and why they chose to immigrate to the U.S.
