New cancer research and therapies are making strides in fighting cancer in both dogs and humans. Some of the research is happening right here in Illinois — at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.

Some of the researchers involved will be spotlighted on an upcoming episode of the pet-themed public television series called “Shelter Me," which is set to air on June 9 on WILL-TV

Oncology and veterinary experts from the university join the program to discuss the new research.
