This Independence Day weekend 2021 was Chicago's most violent weekend on record this year:

  • - 104 people shot
  • - 19 people killed
  • - 13 children wounded

Gun violence is on pace to be the highest it’s been since 2016. There were also mass shootings in Champaign and Peoria during the same weekend.
