Reporter Roundtable: Illinois Braces For Phase 4

Jernej Furman
As of Monday, state government says Illinois is ready to move on to the next phase of easing COVID-19 restrictions on Friday, June 26. That would mean gatherings of up to 50 people would be allowed, as opposed to the current limit of 10. It would also mean indoor dining in restaurants would be permissible, albeit at 25 percent of capacity. Movie theaters, museums and sporting events will also be working towards opening, all with significantly reduced capacity.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 infections are still happening — officials announced nearly 1,300 new cases over the weekend, with another 67 deaths. We checked with reporters across Illinois on coronavirus infections and how serious people are taking precautions.
