Terrell Jermaine Starr on life and war in Ukraine

On February 24, 2022, Russian leader Vladimir Putin ordered his troops to invade Ukraine. Thousands from both countries have been killed. The United Nations says more than 5 million refugees have fled Ukraine, the biggest refugee crisis since World War II.
We were joined by a University of Illinois Journalism alum who's been covering the conflict from the front lines. He earned master’s degrees in Russian, East European, and Eurasian studies and in journalism from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and he was a student reporter at our host station, Illinois Public Media in 2008.
