‘The People’s pope’: Cardinal Blase Cupich, other Illinois Catholics reflect on legacy of Pope Francis

Pope Francis' funeral is scheduled for Saturday April 26. Catholics around the world and around Illinois are morning his death. Seen as more progressive than past popes, the pontiff was known for advocating for migrants, climate justice, a softer tone the towards LGBTQ community, and he spent Easter weekend calling for an end to the war in Gaza that has killed more than 50,000 people.
The top figure of the Catholic Church in the state as well as other leaders of the faith join the program today.
