Rep. Deb Conroy receives death threats over bill
State Rep. Deb Conroy (D-Elmhurst) and her staff have received death threats over a profound misreading of legislation she introduced at the behest of her county health department. The idea of HB4640 was to speed up data sharing that is already taking place among hospitals, the state, and local health departments, but conservative media outlets and politicians falsely described what the legislation would do, with one outlet saying Conroy’s bill would lead to “a concentration camp.”
The representative joined us to talk about what the bill is actually intended to do and the response to her legislation.
