Jelani Day was a Danville native, who was studying speech pathology at Illinois State University in 2021 with the goal of eventually becoming a doctor.
But on August 24 — four years ago this Sunday — Jelani disappeared. He had last been seen at a store in Bloomington. Two days later his car was found hidden in the woods near Peru, Illinois — about an hour north of ISU.
Then, 11 days after he went missing, Jelani’s remains were recovered from the Illinois river. How and why he vanished is still a mystery. Jelani's mother joins the program on his death anniversary.
