Weekly Politics Roundtable - August 18, 2023

In our weekly roundup from Springfield and the Washington, D.C., correspondents shared insights and reactions from the political world. This week, the indictment of former president Donald J. Trump and 18 allies on Monday. They are accused of scheming to illegally overturn his 2020 election loss in the state. This is Trump's fourth indictment.

Meanwhile, an Illinois State Fair tradition continues. Governor JB Pritzker (D-IL) criticize Republicans, including Trump, during the Democratic day at the fair. The very next day, State House Republican Leader Tony McCombie (R-Savanna) and other Republican leaders take aim at several of Pritzker's policies.
