Where America stands 2 years after the Capitol insurrection
January 6, 2023 marks two years since the mob of Donald J. Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol. Later some members of Congress, including Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) attempted to subvert the presidential election. Since then, hundreds of men and women have been arrested and charged for breaching the Capitol, many from Illinois. The House Jan. 6 committee is shutting down, having completed a whirlwind 18-month investigation of the 2021 Capitol insurrection and having sent its work to the Justice Department along with a recommendation for prosecuting former President Donald Trump.
