Afternoon at the Opera

Afternoon at the Opera: Iolanta

Tune in every Saturday at Noon, for The Metropolitan Opera hosted by Debra Lew Harder.

Based on a Danish play, Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta follows the story of a blind princess who lives in a beautiful enclosed garden. Betrothed to someone who doesn’t love her, and forbidden from the man who does, Iolanta slowly learns about love and her own identity. This production features Ivo Stanchev as René, King of Provence, Sonya Yoncheva as his blind daughter, Boris Pinkhasovich as Robert, Duke of Burgundy, and Dmytro Popov as Count Vaudémont.
