This week, we’re putting the spotlight on that Tijuana Brass sound that Herb Alpert helped usher into the popular music scene of the 1960s. It was inspired by Mariachi music and was bright, brassy, and swinging! It was one of the many musical fads of the era that brought about lots of imitators. So, this week, we’re going to look at all the different kinds of Tijuana Brass-esque releases that came out from the sublime to the ridiculous. We’ll hear from The Mariachi Brass, Baja Marimba Band, Peter Nero, plus a few tunes from Alpert himself.
