Atomic Age Cocktail Party

Stairway to the Stars (170)

This time, on the Atomic Age Cocktail Party, we’re taking a Stairway to the Stars! We’re looking at songs that feature “star” or “stars” in their title. The ways hi-fi era songwriters used the image and idea of stars were as varied and vast as, well, the stars in the sky. You could wish upon a star…a place to put your dreams. You could have lucky stars. Stars can be distracting. The stars in the sky could be a real space-age destination. And on and on. We’ll explore all sorts of star songs…some very well known. Other, wonderful sparkling hidden gems. We’ll hear from Nat King Cole, Les Baxter, The Ames Brothers, and many more.
